After completing her education in Armidale NSW, Norma Abey moved to Sydney to establish her career in sales and marketing. In that time Norma developed a successful career in the beauty and fashion industry having worked for international companies such as Revlon and Lancome. Recognised for her sales and marketing talents, Norma was offered a role in the real estate industry where she immediately established a reputation as a high achiever. Norma was consistently ranked in the Top 10 sales consultants for her real estate franchise and also achieved the number 1 ranking in NSW.
After 14 years in Sydney, Norma returned to Armidale in 2001 with her husband and two young children. Again, Norma’s reputation as a talented sales and marketing professional resulted in a position in the education sector as the Registrar and Executive Member of Staff at Presbyterian Ladies College (PLC) Armidale. At PLC Armidale, Norma was responsible for all sales, marketing, enrolments and development activities.
In 2002, Norma was appointed by the NSW Government to the New England North West Regional Development Board. Norma served as a Board Member until 2005 and during that time, co-chaired four project sub-committees including the NENW Food & Wine project which is recognised as one of the most successful projects undertaken by the board. This project led to the current Food and Wine initiative in the NENW region and which was launched at Sydney Parliament House in 2008.
In 2007, Norma was appointed Relationship Manager for the University of New England. As a Senior Fundraiser, Norma’s responsibilities are in Business Development and Relationship Management for the university. Norma is a current member of the Fundraising Institute of Australia. Her interests include theatre and musical performance, is an avid reader, wife and mother to two wonderful children. Her philosophy is to live a life of integrity and in pursuit of excellence.
