The oldest community radio station in the country, the University of New England 's (UNE) 106.9 Tunefm, will soon be bigger and better than evet The station has a brand new radio computer program developed by Google, to go along with some new equipment, that will be housed in their new headquarters.

The station is currently in a temporary premises in the former home of the UNE dental service, but will hopefully be in their new custom-built studios by Christmas.

Tunefm station manager Chris Jahnsen said the new software called Google Radio Automation will be a lot more reliable and user-friendly for volunteer announcers and staff.

Chris said the new program has been a real asset as Tunefm has now been able to do some voiceover work for other stations.

The new studio will be built in the old home of footlights restaurant and will look out on a newly built courtyard, it will feature a new training room which will double as a green room for visiting bands when they play at the Bistro.

Another exciting feature will be improved recording booths for better recording, allowing for more creative opportunities for announcers to concoct original content.

The new facilities will also enable Tunefm to record bands live at the Bistro when they perform.

The new studio will take advantage of a position which will allow students to see what is happening at Tunefm as they go about their day.

Chris said this will help make Tunefm more involved with the campus and a bigger part of life at UNE.
